Patrick, as you know I called you today while at the track to work on a stumble issue.  What you told me to do on getting the stumble out was spot on!  I still have an issue with popping through the exhaust on the upper end of the track past 1/8 mile, not before.  I since had a fuel issue with fuel pressure dropping during the burnout and going down the track.  I DO NOT have this issue now as to I have changed the entire fuel system over to a Maganfuel 500 pump.  -12AN inlet with -10AN fuel line with a -8AN return as per the instructions from Magnafuel.

I started out with the 29033 carb and you advised to send it back, then you sent me the 29033b carb.  Could we have gone too big on the CFM with the 29033b with my engine combination?  My car hasn't improved, but a couple hundreths over my old dominator carb versus the 2 carbs listed above.

Please help...thanks,
Rich C.

Anything is possible...we can try a smaller one if you like.  But that makes sense...popping out the exhaust concerns me though as thats not normal with any carb...could we have an ignition box problem, tired exhaust valve springs or some odd issue in the air pan area?

My ignition box is good.  I will have to check the spring pressures.  Do I need to send this carb back or can I change the boosters to lower the CFM? How to I get different boosters?

Also, I had none of the above issues with my dominator carb on the same engine set up minus the new fuel system.

Popping out the exhaust (if its a carb issue) is typically a sign of the engine being too rich in jetting.

BUT if it happens only at higher rpms its ignition based or valve spring based.

If it happens only at higher speeds its air pan based.

Meaning there is air traveling across the top of the carb making it angry.  Obviously there are several more things that can make a pop "out the exhaust"

BUT those are the most popular.

Would the air pan you have listed work with a 6in. tall cowl to windshield hood for a fox body mustang?
