We have indexed the needle and seats on Pro Stock and all our personal carbs for probably a decade or so.
Some combos will make a lot of foam and the car will lay over or not pull downtrack if they are not indexed. Most combos are unaffected.
However, as of today, I have decided to mark all the needle and seat nuts with a mark to denote the WINDOW placement in the needle and seat in relation to the bowl inlet.
This mark on the nut is to be pointed toward the fuel inlet. You may see something...you may not BUT it never hurts. I have solved some folks foaming issues and "lazy down track" issues with this trick about 2 times a year.
So it never hurts to index them.
A gasoline target range is 7 psi under a load down track and 7.75 at an idle.
