Hello Patick i resently changed may cam to a solid roller. 388sbc, small base circle,4/7 swap, dur@.50 int.261,exh.268, lift int.656,exh.639. lobe sep.108. The carb is rich at idle, no black smoke but burn yo eyes rich. I turned the 4corner screws to 1 1/2, it helped a little. 1 turn is not enough, motor will not idle. I jetted the primary down to 72, it helped a little. Should i continue to jet down? Aother thing is with 2turns on the 4corner screws the motor reponse is really good, but the fumes will kill u. My current spread is 72-78.

Rich at an idle is just that an idle thing...  leave the main jets alone for now.  Go larger on the idle air bleeds about .010-.015 from current so we can get the mixtures out some more.  We don't want them that tight as it just pees thru there and wont break up the fuel
Get your float levels at 25 percent and your base timing at an idle to about 22 degrees OR lock the timing out and keep me posted.

I change the air bleed size to .086, the smoke is gone.
