Tks for all the help!!!! I am going to run a alco carb friday night for the first time...i was told to jet for the best mph..what are your reccomendation? Should i try jetting it up first? If no improvement then jet down.jet down till mph falls off then go back up...didn't want to hurt motor by leaning it out to much..what do y'all recommend on how to turn for best performance? Tks for all the help!!!!

We do all our development in the 1/8th mile and have never hurt an engine in almost 2 decades. Jet for best mph in the 1/8th (always baseline then go up first). If it slows down go the other way.
Then run the 1/4 mile. You can usually make a full pass on your fourth pass of the day.
Having said that... most of the times on alky we are dead on or super close so they are safe to race right out of the box.
But there are exceptions to every rule, so use caution.

| When running alco..do you shift at the same rpm? Hear say -- people say you can shift 2 to 300 rpm lower because alco.makes torque.was shifting at 7000...on c- 14... tks |

Typically Alcohol like E85 likes more cross sectional diameter in the runner as the extra volume of fuel consumes that runner volume and acts like a restrictor plate on some combinations that have smaller runners or runners sized properly for gasoline.
So a lower shift point is in order on THOSE combinations that are "runner size challenged".
